Arts Business Academy - Defining Your Goal - Developing Your Brand

St. Petersburg Arts Alliance will present a six-week program of professional development training sessions, providing artists and personnel of arts organizations the skills and confidence to meet business challenges. Session topics will include: Defining Your Self as a Creative Business, Developing Your Brand, Media and Promotion, Social Media and Marketing, Legal and Business Basics, and Practical Business Tools and Raising Funds. The classes will help fine artists, musicians, writers and non-profit administrators prepare for careers in the arts and arts organizations.

**Registration for the entire academy and pre-payment prior to the first session on Monday, June 4th is required to attend this series. No walk-ins.** Classes will be on Monday nights, and will be taught by area arts professionals and business leaders. The arts entrepreneurship program will also provide networking support and mentorship opportunities, connecting emerging artists with seasoned professionals in each artistic genre. Classes will include St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, City of St. Petersburg and other arts organization service information. June 4, Session 1 Defining Your Goal - Developing Your Brand • Who are you as an artist, administrator, performer, and as a businessperson? • If you make this choice, how will it serve you three months from now? One year from now? • What is your brand or your non-profit’s brand -- your promise to deliver on your business image? • Develop marketing overview, positioning statement, elevator speech, tag line, and key messages. • Develop your Artist’s Statement and Bio. or your organization’s mission • What is a mission and vision statement. June 11, Session 2 Financial Tips for Your Small Business • Banking responsibilities • Intro to financial responsibilities; QuickBooks and other options • How can managing your finances help your business? • What are some common practices, rules and tools to help you manage your business finances? • How can these tools help you start and grow your business? June 18, Session 3 Social Media & Marketing • Attract more collectors, gallery dealers, and museum curators through marketing your art. • Exposure = Success! However, Output does not equal Outcomes. • Blasting out to everyone is not targeting your sales market. • Harness the power of social media sites! Learn how to effectively use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other sites to promote your work. • Traditional and new marketing methods with specific examples of creative and unusual ways to market. • How to identify your target customer, build you
